A Professional's View Of The Local Housing Market
10/02/2009
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has just published its January housing market survey.
A RICS respondent for the areas of Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, St. Albans & Watford is Kevin Rolfe M.R.I.C.S, who is Managing Director of Aitchisons, part of the Aitchison Raffety Group.
The headline of the RICS January survey is:
“Buyer interest continues to rise
as sales begin to stabilise”
Commenting on the survey, Kevin Rolfe confirmed that his input into the survey, as far as the local area is concerned, was along similar lines.
“There has without doubt been an increase in activity across Aitchisons offices in January confirming a genuine desire from more people to move home. In my opinion the slow improvement will continue as the availability of mortgage funds eases”
Kevin added
“Initially any market improvement will result in an increase in the number of sales being concluded, followed by a levelling out of prices thereafter. We anticipate that house price indicators will lag behind what is happening ‘at the coalface’ for some time. Committed vendors and buyers will increasingly be able to make the move provided that a realistic attitude is adopted to achievable prices”
