Christmas Gift to Leverstock Green Village Association

05/12/2006

The Christmas draw of Leverstock Green Village Association’s (LGVA) ‘500 Club’ had a surprising result which has boosted the appeal fund for the refurbishment of the village hall.

The winning ticket holder, drawn by Tony Markland of Aitchisons who sponsor the Christmas Draw, was Richard Smith but on being advised by email of his win, replied saying that he had emigrated to New Zealand.

Sheila Knight (LGVA Administrator) of the Leverstock Green Village Association takes up the story: “We knew Richard was planning to emigrate but he was still a 500 Club member so entitled to be in the draw. Very graciously he has donated £100 to our appeal for the village hall refurbishment project”

The 500 Club is open to residents of Leverstock Green. The LGVA holds a monthly draw for £100 as well as the special Christmas draw. All profits go to the LGVA and are spent on community activities.

Aitchisons has had a long association with the LGVA, sponsoring the Christmas Draw for a number of years as well as continuing to sponsor the LGVA newsletter. Manager Jacqui Walker explains “we like to be involved with all the communities which we serve and assist many of Hemel’s villages in one way or another.”
